The Science Behind Our Bee Serum
Intoxicated Cosmetics Bee Serum is an anti-aging formula made for oily to combination skin. This serum contains a very high percentage of hyaluronic acid (22%+) , as well as several other hydrating ingredients for instant smoothness and plumping, including natural glycerin, betaine (from sugar beets) and trehalose, which comes from natural sugars derived from resurrection plants for instant and long lasting hydration. We have also included natural honey & oatmeal fragrance. There are other ingredients such as Vitamin C&E, and Bee Venom.
Below, please find the scientific breakdown of each one of Bee Serums main ingredients:
Bee Venom:
Research has proven that Purified Bee Venom (PBV™) is a potent combination of enzymes, peptides and amino acids that works on all levels of the skin to encourage naturally occurring cell regeneration, boost collagen formation, accelerate the recovery of damaged skin cells and act as a natural alternative to harsh antibiotic therapy for acne. Bee venom mimics the effects of Botox in the sense that it has the ability to deeply penetrate the skin and instantly make it appear lifted, more plump, and significantly firmer in addition to increasing blood circulation in the area that it is applied to. Bee venom also fills and smooths fine lines and wrinkles as well as naturally stimulating natural collagen and elastin.
Royal Epigen:
For anti-aging benefits, collagen and elastin integrity. Royal Epigen P5 is a new and biologically-active peptide that activates skin regeneration and glow. Inspired by epigenetic science, this peptide mimics royal jelly to maximize its positive effects on the skin. Honeybee workers and queens greatly differ in appearance, longevity and behavior despite the fact that they share exactly the same DNA. In 2011, Japanese scientists discovered that honeybees modify their genetic code by consuming royal jelly. Indeed, a protein of this peculiar juice was shown to be able to modify gene expression in honeybees without changing the DNA sequence, a biological process called epigenetics. This protein was named royalactin (“queenmaker”) as it determined the fate of the honeybee. Due to the fact that royalactin is unstable and too large to penetrate the skin, Mibelle Biochemistry has developed a peptide that copies its active sequence. For improved skin uptake, the peptide was incorporated into a soft sphere carrier system based on shea butter. In vitro assays performed on skin cells showed the capacity of Royal Epigen P5 to improve tissue regeneration by stimulating cell proliferation and migration to maintain the regenerative potential of skin cells in an aging environment. This peptide also activates protein turnover through proteasome stimulation. Additionally, in clinical studies, Royal Epigen P5 stimulated the skin renewal, which led to a rapid increase in skin smoothness. Also, when applied on the face of women presenting uneven skin tones, this royalactin-like peptide improved the uniformity of their complexions within just 28 days.
Sebuless:
For oil and sebum control, reaction of acne-related pigmentation and redness and overall skin clarity.
Hyadisine:
For instant skin smoothing and plumping, Hydasine promotes hylauronic acid-like benefits and protection of the skin against environmental factors. The bacterium producing Hydasine was collected in an intertidal bay called Douarnenez which is located in Brittany, France. Organisms that inhabit that bay are highly dynamic due to the exposition to harsh factors such as wave action, thermal and desiccation stress, UV exposure and nutrient depletion. Essentially, hydasine is a marine alternative to hyaluronic acid.
Niacinamide (2%):
Also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinic acid, niacinamide is a very effective skin-restoring ingredient that offers multiple benefits for aging skin. Among these benefits is the ability to visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines, dullness, and a weakened skin surface.
Betaine & Trehalose:
From Sugar Beets, Betaine works as a humectant. A humectant is a substance that is primarily used to keep products moist. Trehalose is a sugar found in plants, fungi and invertebrate animals, and used in cosmetics and personal care products as a moisturizer. It is considered useful because of its rehydrating and water binding properties, as well as its antioxidant powers.
Vitamin C:
Provides a range of benefits, from helping to even out your skin tone, shielding skin from the visible impact of pollution, significantly improving hydration, and keeping your skin looking younger. Vitamin C (aka ascorbic acid) helps create younger-looking, firmer-feeling skin while signs of uneven skin tone and spots seem to disappear. Ascorbic acid also helps skin’s surface defend itself from external stressors, lessening the effects of exposure to the elements. Ascorbic acid is a powerhouse when mixed with other antioxidants.
Vitamin E:
Concentrated in the sebum, a substance produced by oil glands, and in the membranes of skin cells and the lipid-based “glue” that holds them together, Vitamin E is uniquely positioned to maintain the integrity and beauty of your complexion. When skin is exposed to UV light, smoke and air pollution, it produces free radicals and other rogue molecules that damage collagen (your skin’s support structure), DNA and skin cells, all of which ultimately contributes to wrinkles and brown spots. Vitamin E fights those effects by neutralizing the free radicals. Because Vitamin E lives in and protects cell membranes, which form a barrier around cells to keep them healthy and hydrated, it indirectly helps skin stay moisturized and supple. Plus, along with being an effective antioxidant, Vitamin E also fights inflammation.
